Onset of Winter
To capture the transition from autumn to winter in an impressive way, I've used an external flash to transform the snowflakes into big bokeh circles and it needed some time to get the perfect result.
The photo is a single exposure with no alteration of elements in post processing - besides a basic RAW development.
Nick Smith for Outdoor Photography magazine:
"There's something magical about Henrik Spranz's photography. Although deeply rooted in the hyper-real world of natural history and landscape, his work bears none of the hallmarks of scientific illustration or even animal portraiture. His world is a dream-like state of whimsical and wispy perfection, pastel colours and cheeky woodland creatures. In fact, it's fair to say that the Spranz portfolio has more in common with Grimm's Fairy Tales, Hans Christian Andersen or even the early animated children's movies by Walt Disney, than just about anything else".

I love to venture the forests near me - especially in autumn and winter. On this late autumn day I've been lucky to still find trees with leaves in beautiful colours, but also a quite heavy snowfall. To capture the transition from autumn to winter in an impressive way, I've used an external flash to transform the snowflakes into big bokeh circles and it needed some time to get the perfect result.
